Full time position.
Hertfordshire based office, with travel throughout UK.
Training where required.

Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen with ITAMS, an industry leading consultancy. In this challenging, hands-on role within our technical team, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, integration and support of the solutions which ITAMS deploys for the management of customer’s hardware and software assets.

This will include on client premises and hosted software implementations at ITAMS hosting partner.

Line Manager: Service Delivery Manager

The role includes:

  • Designing technical solutions for discovery, dependency mapping, asset lifecycle, barcoding and licence management tools
  • Implementation of the solution (incl. OS, application and database) as per agreed design, at customer sites or remotely

    – Integrating these tools with other data sources (discovery, CMDB, AD etc.) often using APIs, scripts and data transformation utilities

    – Deploying to Microsoft, Unix and Linux environments, often using SQL, MySQL or Oracle databases

    – Configuring applications and performing first data loads, including some initial data cleansing

    – Customer environment specification (comms, server, credentials)

  • Configuration of Apache, IIS or other webservers/web services
  • Assessment of activities and timescales to assist project planning
  • Troubleshooting and break-fix support of the solution as required
  • Some provision of low volume 2nd / 3rd line post implementation support in accordance with customer service level targets
  • Liaising with third party organisations as required (e.g. tool publisher)
  • Liaising with customer technical resources as required
  • Specifying, monitoring and maintaining ITAMS’ hosted service platform
  • Upgrades, patches and updates to the solution as necessary in accordance with the agreed service
  • Specify troubleshoot and manage ITAMS hosting environment, in co-operation with external hosting partner

Essential Requirements
  • Customer facing with min 3-5 years large client professional services experience
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to integrate tools into reference data sources such as active directory, Citrix, Peoplesoft
  • Understanding of device relationships, virtualisation and usage of licences
  • Microsoft Windows 8 / 7 / XP AND Office configuration
  • IP networking familiarity
  • Microsoft Server familiarity
  • Web services understanding
  • Unix concepts
  • Database familiarity (installing applications and connectivity)
  • Understanding of workflow concepts
  • Data optimisation and cleansing experience
  • Core database access and comms experience (Oracle/SQL)
  • IIS, web services and SMTP integration experience
  • SQL query building and core integration/ data exchange/ETL knowledge.
  • Ability to script/programme languages such as PHP and XML
  • Licence tooling knowledge and experience, such as Frontrange, Flexera, Snow, Aspera SmartTrack, USU etc

  • Client server experience, including agent based tools
  • Microsoft networking and server OS experience

Desirable Experience
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft server products such as;- Windows Server – SCCM – Exchange
  • Familiarity with SQL and SQL scripting
  • Awareness of ITIL / IT Service Management concepts
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix
  • Familiarity with security / permissions and firewalls
  • Licence and/or asset management concepts and best practice
  • Understanding of licensing terms, metrics and issues
  • Integration of tools into discovery data sources and the knowledge of these tools and their Schema such as DDMi, Altiris, SMS, SCCM, etc
  • Software recognition and software mapping logic experience
  • Provision of technical support and efficient ticket / job handling
  • Service management tools experience
